As part of our Red Oktober Kalashnikov Championships tradition, we built an AK that fit this year's theme. This year's theme was based on one of the most famous first-person shooter video games of all time. Unfortunately, I can't mention the game's name, but know that it involves a green-suited protagonist fighting against the forces of hell on Earth—and no, it's not Master Chief.
This year, we decided to build a competition-focused, demon-slaying machine based on our RD606 MK.II MOD 1 rifle. The heart of the system is its use of the 5.56 NATO caliber, putting the rifle in the small-caliber class in ROKC. This provides minimal recoil, especially after we tune the gas system. With the MK.II handguard and Mod 1 top cover, it gives you the longest sight radius to run with the PH2 iron sights, perfect for the Small Irons Division. To increase accuracy and recoil control even further, we added the Unrivaled Technologies tunable muzzle brake. Designed by past Red Oktober Champions Kyle Litzie and Zack Smith, this brake design has taken the competition world by storm.
To tie in with the theme of the game, we matched the colors of this rifle to the main protagonist. A mix of Wojtek Brown, OD Green, and Flintlok Brown accents makes this one sick imp stomper.
